Launch Of Rapid Tech Skills Training Flagship Project Under the SKIES Programme

JHUB Africa, in the Department of Computing, is excited to announce the launch of a pioneering educational initiative, “Rapid Tech Skills Training.” This program is a flagship project under The Strengthening of Kenya’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem (SKIES), part of the Kenya Industry and Entrepreneurship Programme (KIEP), which is generously funded by the World Bank and implemented in concert with the State Department of Investment, Trade and Industry, and the management expertise of Spineberg-E4Impact JV.

“The SKIES Rapid Tech Skills programme is not just about teaching technology; it’s about creating a vibrant ecosystem of innovators and leaders who will propel Kenya forward in the digital economy,” Dr Lawrence Nderu.

This innovative training course aims to fortify Kenya’s position as a technological leader by empowering 33 chosen students from various parts of the country with the latest in-demand tech skills for the 21st century. The curriculum is meticulously crafted to transform these promising individuals into tech innovators and entrepreneurs ready to tackle the global stage with their enhanced productivity and creative solutions.

The SKIES Rapid Tech Skills programme is dedicated to implementing a job readiness initiative, focusing on critical areas such as cybersecurity, software engineering, data science, entrepreneurship, and essential soft skills. This comprehensive approach is designed to produce a generation of professionals who are not only technically proficient but also equipped with the entrepreneurial acumen and soft skills necessary for success in the dynamic tech landscape.

Program Highlights:

  • In-Depth Generative AI Knowledge: Participants will explore the vast potential of Generative AI and master techniques for innovative problem-solving and productivity enhancement.
  • Practical Software Engineering Skills: Emphasis will be placed on applying Generative AI in streamlining tasks within software engineering, including automated coding and documentation processes.
  • Entrepreneurial Development: The course will guide students through the nuances of turning technological innovations into successful business ventures, with a keen focus on market dynamics and strategic planning.
